I am Ouyang, the founder of SnapVow. My story, and the story of SnapVow, began in Beijing in 1988.

At that time, I was a passionate sculpture student at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, filled with dreams and ambition. My world revolved around carving tools, stone, and my devotion to art. But a sudden turn of events shattered everything.

During a student movement, I was injured, leaving my legs paralyzed and my future seemingly erased. Friends drifted away, and the path forward grew dim. I fell into a deep, lonely despair, uncertain of what lay ahead.

In my darkest days, it was my teacher and his daughter, Huili, who brought light back into my life. Huili was gentle and kind, offering not only physical care but also steadfast emotional support. She encouraged me to pick up my art again, reigniting the passion I thought was lost.

Day by day, as we spent time together, a bond grew between us, filled with warmth and understanding. Each shared moment was a reminder that I was not alone.

But as time passed, I came to accept that my future was uncertain, and Huili ultimately decided to move to Japan in search of better opportunities. Though it pained me deeply, I respected her choice and let her go, knowing that her happiness was the most important thing.

Life in Japan was not as easy as she had hoped, and in her quiet moments, Huili would think back on the time we shared.

One day, during an interview at a chemical factory in Japan, she heard about a new material—polymer clay. In that moment, she found a way to express her longing. Using the clay, she sculpted a small bobblehead with a gentle smile, and she sent it to me as a token of her thoughts.

This simple gift brought me immense comfort and reignited my passion for art. I began to study polymer clay, pouring my heart into this new medium as a way to express the emotions I held inside. Every detail, every gentle press of my fingers, every second in the kiln—these moments became a ritual of bringing to life something that held both beauty and memory.

These creations were more than just art; they were preserved memories, symbolizing the moments Huili and I shared. I sculpted with care, as if each bobblehead was a way to recapture those precious, fleeting times. In my hands, they came alive again, embodying the love and yearning I felt for Huili.

In those solitary days, I crafted many special bobbleheads for myself and Huili. Each one represented a memory—a reminder of our first encounter, the laughter on our birthdays, and even the warmth of ordinary days spent together. Every bobblehead was a fragment of our story, capturing the laughter and the care we shared.

When I gazed at them, I was transported back to those cherished moments, finding strength and solace in each piece. These bobbleheads became a way to relive our happiness, a source of comfort that sustained me, helping me move forward through the hardest times.

Later, I began creating what I called “Bobbleheads for the Future.” These little figures symbolized my hopes for a beautiful future and my dreams of reuniting with Huili. Within each figure, I embedded my vision for us—a future where we would find each other again, my aspirations for a family, and even my plans for the future of my art.

These “bobbleheads for the future” reminded me that even in my darkest times, I should hold onto faith in life and keep hope alive. They captured my memories of the past while embodying my hopes for what lay ahead, guiding me forward, one step at a time.

Over time, my clay creations began to attract attention within the art community. I showcased them in several exhibitions, and slowly, more and more people came to appreciate the heartfelt stories and emotions behind each piece.

I could hardly believe that the works I’d originally crafted as a personal solace were resonating so deeply with others. Audiences were captivated by the warmth and depth of emotion in these bobbleheads, and through this connection, the SnapVow brand was born.

Just as I thought I had found my strength again, fate graced me with an unexpected gift. Huili learned of my success in the art world, and she was deeply moved. At last, she realized that I had always been the one she truly loved. Filled with both regret and longing, she summoned the courage to return to Beijing.

Our reunion was warm and profound, a moment that dissolved every misunderstanding, every barrier that time and distance had created. In that single embrace, we not only forgave each other but also saw a shared future in each other’s eyes.

With Huili by my side, we founded the SnapVow Studio together. Our dream was to give others a way to capture their own precious memories in the form of these lifelike bobbleheads.

Each SnapVow figure would become more than just a handcrafted item; it would be a “vessel of emotion,” holding within it a customer’s story, joy, and love. Each piece bears witness to the beauty and happiness in people’s lives, transforming fleeting moments into something eternal, allowing cherished memories to be preserved and relived.

Over the last thirty years, SnapVow Studio has weathered both the shifts of time and the ups and downs of the market. As the internet and social media quickly transformed the world, we evolved from a traditional, offline workshop to an online presence. In the beginning, we were far from skilled in online promotion, but we were willing to learn, to grow, and to collaborate with younger team members. We began documenting each step of our bobblehead-making process, allowing viewers to see the warmth and intricate detail in every creation, showcasing the care behind each piece.

At first, online promotion didn’t yield the results we had hoped for, and Huili wondered if this was truly the right path for SnapVow. Then, one late night, I saw her reading through a customer’s message, tears quietly streaming down her face. The message came from a customer who had recently lost a loved one: “Thank you for allowing me to keep an eternal memory. Looking at this bobblehead, I feel as if I can touch him again, feel those warm days all over.”

We were deeply moved by the sincerity in those words. In that moment, we realized that these bobbleheads were not just small keepsakes; they were bridges of emotion, carrying the weight of people’s deepest affections. From then on, we vowed to continue on this heartfelt journey, no matter how challenging the road might become. Our mission was not only to create beautiful figures but to help every customer express and preserve their emotions in a way that would stand the test of time.

As social media blossomed, we began sharing SnapVow’s story online, revealing the heartfelt stories behind each bobblehead. Many customers voiced their support in the comments, and some even became advocates, spreading the word on our behalf. From across the globe, we received countless messages and letters filled with gratitude, each one carrying a story that touched us deeply. Some spoke of memorializing loved ones, others of celebrating life’s significant moments, and many expressed the silent longing and connection between lovers. These genuine emotions made us realize that SnapVow was more than a business—it was a profound responsibility.

We continued innovating, always striving to deepen the personal connection in our creations. One day, a longtime customer reached out to us. He shared the touching story of his late wife, hoping we could create a special bobblehead to honor her memory. After much thought, Huili and I designed a bobblehead with a music box base. When wound, it played their favorite song, encapsulating a lifetime of memories in a few gentle notes.

When he received it, he was moved to tears, gently touching the bobblehead and whispering, “This isn’t just a decoration; it’s a continuation of the beautiful memories I hold in my heart.” From that moment, our music box bobbleheads became a unique part of the SnapVow collection, fusing art with remembrance, with every detail crafted to carry the love and memories of our customers.

As orders increased, we remained committed to handcrafting each bobblehead to the highest standards. This dedication sometimes demanded great sacrifices. There were nights when Huili worked through until dawn, her hands tirelessly bringing each detail to life. I felt for her in those moments, knowing the toll it took on her, but I also understood that our commitment to quality and authenticity was the soul of our brand. To keep this passion alive, we began training a team of young artisans, instilling in them our craftsmanship and values, so that SnapVow’s legacy of dedication could continue into the next generation.

Today, SnapVow has become more than a workshop; it is a brand that holds memories and emotions for countless people. Each bobblehead carries the stories of our customers, witnessing the simple moments of life. For Huili and me, SnapVow is not just an artistic endeavor; it is a continuation of life itself, a poem woven with the threads of existence.

We hope that through SnapVow, every customer can find their own cherished memories embodied in a custom creation—a companion in their lives that captures laughter and warmth. Each bobblehead is more than art; it is a symbol of resilience and hope. We have always believed that art has the power to heal, to help people find strength in loss, and comfort in loneliness. SnapVow strives to be a “vessel of emotion,” preserving precious memories and transforming each custom moment into something eternal.
